The bottom line: Our quick verdict on the Apple Watch Series 2

The Series 2 is the best smartwatch you can buy, but it's not the best sports watch. Even with the waterproofing and built-in GPS, it's best if you think of this as a fitness tracker -- albeit, a very stylish, feature-rich fitness tracker. The pace...

Faster performance and longer battery life than before ; watchOS 3 feels much more intuitive ; Waterproof design means you can take it swimming ; Built-in GPS is good for walkers, hikers and casual joggers ; Screen is more than twice as bright ; Works...

Average pace calculations in workouts are often off the mark ; Distance tracking in running falters if you stop to walk ; Activity app is missing features you'll find in other fitness apps ; More watch faces, please ; The Series 1 watch offers many of...

Apple Watch Series 2

The Apple Watch Series 2 brings advanced fitness-tracking features that make it more useful than many of the other smartwatches we've reviewed. But it's still a considerable investment for a device you don't really need.

Built-in GPS. Waterproof to 164 feet. Brighter screen and faster performance than original Apple Watch. Accurate fitness tracking. Plenty of third-party apps.

Expensive. Battery life has not improved from predecessor. Lacks integrated sleep tracking and continuous heart rate monitoring when not working out.

The Apple Watch Series 2 is the best smartwatch-fitness tracker hybrid we've seen, and better than the original watch thanks to a brighter screen, faster performance, and a waterproof design.

Apple Watch Series 2 review: Getting it right the second time

GPS, waterproofing and faster software make Apple's new smartwatch finally click, but don't expect huge battery life.

The new Apple Watch is faster, has a far better OS, onboard GPS, a brighter display and is waterproof to 50 meters in salt or fresh water.

Same battery life, mostly. GPS activity causes a big hit on battery life for running. Lacks always-on display. A tad thicker and heavier. Requires an iPhone to work.

The Apple Watch returns in a made-for-sports upgrade that adds swim functions and GPS, but anyone who's not a runner or swimmer should consider the Apple Watch Series 1 instead.

Apple Watch Series 2 review: work it out

Let's call it what it is: a fitness tracker. The Apple Watch Series 2 is exactly that. It's what Apple had resisted calling its wearable for the past year and a half, even declining to categorize...

Built-in GPS ; Water resistant up to 50m ; Faster performance ; Bigger battery

Limited to iPhone users ; Display not visible in direct sunlight ; Still has some software glitches

Apple Watch, the re-review: One year after its launch, is it worth buying?

At 1-year-old and newly discounted, the Apple Watch is a study in contradictions; it's the best overall smartwatch out there, but not something you should feel compelled to buy.

Beautifully constructed. Handles messages well. A solid fitness tracker. Hundreds of apps. Can send and receive voice calls via an iPhone. Lots of design choices. Apple Pay-enabled. Stores music for local playback over Bluetooth.

Battery only lasts a little more than a day. Most models and configurations cost more than they should. Requires an iPhone to work. Interface can be confusing. Many apps load slowly. Lacks built-in GPS.

A year old and even more affordable, the Apple Watch remains the best designed and most capable smartwatch you can buy -- but we're hoping that the inevitable sequel makes it more of a must-have product.

The Apple Watch Series 2 Review: Building Towards Maturity

Back in the first half of 2015 Apple released the first version of the Apple Watch . The Apple Watch was a long-rumored product, often referred to as the iWatch before its release. At the time, it represented the best attempt that I had seen to provide...

Last, but not least, are the Apple Watch's health and fitness tracking abilities. When the Apple Watch first launched I thought I would just turn these off and forget about them, but my own poor health choices have led to me relying on them to keep...

Apple Watch Series 2 review

Jack of all trades, master of most

Still the best smartwatch around... ; ... and now one of the sportiest ; Beautifully made and very customisable with straps and faces ; Longer-lasting battery

Many rivals sport/smart watches still last longer ; Overkill if all you're after is wristy notifications

They may look minor, but Apple’s tweaks make the Watch a watershed wearable

Apple Watch Series 2 review: Fitness first

As the Apple Watch continues to polarise opinion, Apple has released a new version of the smartwatch which hopes to address many of the concerns of the first outing. It's called the Apple Watch Series 2. Apple's shift from pure fashion accessory with...

Now 50m water resistant, built-in GPS, better battery, unlock your Mac is fun, two-button workout pause option, WatchOS 3 makes for a better overall experience

No always-on display option, no 'Cinema Mode' can be annoying, some won't like square design

Apple's shift from pure fashion accessory with some smarts to a device that supports a range of different sports and activities in the Apple Watch Series 2 is a welcome advance.
