Nikon Z7 First Look

This high resolution, mirrorless full-framer is Nikon's attempt to win back the pro crowd. Can it succeed against the likes of Sony's A7R III?

Nikon Z 7

The Z 7 is the best the full-frame mirrorless camera for photographers invested in the Nikon system, but some quirks prevent it from attaining class-leading status.

45.7MP full-frame image sensor. 90 percent autofocus coverage. 9fps continuous drive. In-body stabilization. Tilting touch LCD. Superb EVF. Works with Nikon SLR lenses and accessories. 4K video. Weather sealing. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Autofocus could be better. Lens control ring system is too sensitive. Limited native lens selection at launch. Single memory card slot. Omits PC sync socket.

Bottom Line: The Z 7 is the best the full-frame mirrorless camera for photographers invested in the Nikon system, but some quirks prevent it from attaining class-leading status.

Nikon Z7 Review

No Nikon camera we've tested to date balances stills and video capture as well as the Nikon Z7. Though autofocus is less reliable than the D850, Nikon's first full-frame mirrorless gets enough right to earn our recommendation.

The Nikon Z7 - the brand's first full-frame mirrorless camera - is also its most well-rounded camera for stills and video, and an exciting indicator for what's to come from the 101 year-old company. But first generation products are rarely perfect, and...

Nikon Z7 First Impressions Review

Nikon's Z7 is the first camera to use the all-new Z-mount, the company's first new full-frame mount since 1959. We've put together our first impressions based on quality shooting time with a pre-production camera - check out what we've found.

Nikon Z7

What We Love. The Nikon Z7 distills (almost) everything we love about the D850 DSLR into a smaller-yet-still-ergonomic body featuring the brand new 55mm Z-mount, 5-axis vibration reduction, and Nikon's best video autofocus ever. With weather sealing...

Nikon Z7 initial review: Rewriting the full-frame mirrorless rulebook

Long rumoured, the new Nikon Z series is finally here, rewriting the Japanese company's mirrorless camera rulebook. The Z7 is full-frame (meaning it has

Nikon Z7 review

Nikon's new Z-series gets off to a mighty fine start

Superb electronic viewfinder ; Effective sensor-based VR system ; Very responsive in use ; Noise well suppressed in high-ISO images ; Plays well with third-party lenses ; Very good dynamic range

Relatively shallow buffer depth ; AWB can be neutral in daylight ; XQD cards still pricey ; Expensive next to Z6 ; Battery life far from class leading ; No DCI 4K – only UHD 4K

The Nikon Z7 may not be the prettiest camera, and it's certainly not cheap either, but it's still a formidable debut model in the Z system. With excellent image quality, great videos, lovely handling and a wonderful EVF, together with much-appreciated...

Nikon's Z7 and Z6 mirrorless cameras are a refined pleasure

After some hands-on time with NIkon's first full-frame mirrorless, we love it -- warts and all.

Nikon Z7 Review

There’s absolutely no doubt that Nikon users have been waiting for a viable mirrorless option for some time now. The ill-fated Nikon 1 series certainly didn’t tick the right boxes for the vast majority of pro photographers, while the Z7 finally feels...
