Panasonic GX9

A small camera that can shoot good-quality stills. Panasonic GX9.

Compact design is more portable than SLR-styled competitors ; In-body stabilisation gives sharper results with every lens ; Quiet shutter allows discreet shooting ; Excellent Bluetooth and Wi-Fi smartphone connectivity

Default control setup is awkward for viewfinder shooting ; 16:9 viewfinder is a poor match to sensor ; Control dials are under-utilised

If you want a small camera that can shoot good-quality stills and 4K video alike, then the GX9 is well worth a look. But for stills photographers, there are other cameras at a similar price point that deserve consideration, such as the Olympus OM-D...

Panasonic Lumix G9

Panasonic's best stills camera to date. Panasonic Lumix G9.

Superb design and handling ; Excellent 4K & 6K photo modes ; Well supported by Micro Four Thirds lenses ; Offers high-resolution 40MP & 80MP modes

Positioning of AF toggle could be better ; Lacks battery level indication as percentage ; Burst shot mode descriptions aren’t clear ; No in-camera panoramic mode

Panasonic’s best stills camera to date. The Lumix G9 is a sound mirrorless camera boasting a speedy specification, which it backs up with an admirable performance out in the field.

Great build quality ; Intelligent control layout ; 80MP high-resolution mode ; 5-axis in-body stabilization ; 6K photo and 4K video

Burst rate has odd limitations ; Smaller sensor than similarly sized/priced competitors

Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9 review

Panasonic's Lumix DC-GX9 is a 20MP rangefinder-style mirrorless camera that aims to do a bit of everything. It borrows features from both the GX8 and the smaller GX80 / GX85, but does it strike the right balance?

Panasonic Lumix DC-GX9

Panasonic's Lumix DC-GX9 camera is smaller and less expensive than the GX8 that came before it.

Small body with tilting EVF. 20MP Micro Four Thirds sensor. In-body stabilization. Tilting touch LCD. Pop-up flash. 4K video.

No body-only purchase option. Drops GX8's vari-angle LCD.

The Panasonic Lumix GX9 is another compact Micro Four Thirds from Panasonic. The company has announced several new models over the past few months, including the GH5S and G9 at the higher end of the market.

Panasonic Lumix GX9 mirrorless gives the tilting viewfinder a whirl

The company's latest mirrorless camera is smaller and lighter than its predecessor with the tilting viewfinder of a sibling series. But it's lost something.

Panasonic Lumix DC-G9 Review

The Lumix DC-G9 is Panasonic's top stills-oriented camera and can shoot 20 fps with AF. It also features the best stabilization we've tested to date. Read our full review.

It seemed for a little while there, the two biggest players in the Micro Four Thirds world were splitting off into their own separate niches with Olympus going after the pro stills crowd by way of the EM-1 series and Panasonic, the pro video crowd with...

Panasonic Lumix DC-G9

Panasonic's mirrorless Lumix DC-G9 camera boasts some head-turning specs, including 60fps Raw image capture, but we'll have to see if its real-world performance lives up to its promise.

Shoots at 60fps in Raw format. Tracks subjects at 20fps. 20MP sensor with 80MP high-resolution mode. EVF with 0.83x magnification. 4K video at 60fps. Vari-angle touch LCD. Rugged, dust- and splash-resistant body. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Video not as robust as GH5. High-resolution capture requires tripod and static subject.

Bottom Line: Panasonic's mirrorless Lumix DC-G9 camera boasts some head-turning specs, including 60fps Raw image capture, but we'll have to see if its real-world performance lives up to its promise.
