Samsung Galaxy Book S review: Incredible battery life, WWAN options sell this on-the-go PC

Samsung's Galaxy Book S laptop uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx chip, trading middling performance for a number of features that make on-the-go computing a snap.

Incredibly light, incredibly thin ; Superb 16-hour battery life ; LTE connectivity is designed in out of the box

Snapdragon 8cx processor still requires too many sacrifices ; Keyboard is mediocre

I prefer laptop keyboards with fairly substantial travel, something the Galaxy Book S lacks. Each key is firm and resilient, however, and wide enough to provide a comfortable landing space. The three levels of backlighting (plus off), aren’t...

Samsung Galaxy Book S review: Super battery life, subpar app access

With Qualcomm hardware this Samsung offers superb battery life and 4G connectivity. But the ARM architecture means app limitations, so be cautious.

Super long-lasting battery life ; Ultra-lightweight and slim design ; 4G LTE SIM slot for on-the-go use ; Subtle keyboard backlighting

Qualcomm hardware means app limitations - not everything from Windows Store is functional here ; Screen a little reflective ; Strong competiton in same price bracket

If a long-lasting machine for desk and on-the-go use is exactly what you want, this Samsung is a dream. However, only consider it if you need to do the basics - word processing, Office 365, browsing, videos, and such like - as the Qualcomm hardware...

Samsung Galaxy Book S

The Galaxy Book S is officially the longest lasting laptop you can buy, but Windows on Snapdragon isn't quite flawless yet

Samsung Galaxy Book S review: Lighter than air

The Samsung Galaxy Book S is a lightweight, long-lasting masterpiece of laptop design – Windows on ARM finally comes of age

Fantastic battery life ; 4G connectivity ; Superb speakers

Mediocre keyboard ; Some Windows apps won’t run

With that in mind, I’d recommend the Windows Surface Laptop 3 13.5in over the Samsung Galaxy Book S for most people, based purely on grounds of performance and compatibility. However, if long battery life and 4G connectivity are imperative there’s...
