Samsung Galaxy S10e Review: The best of the bunch?

The Samsung Galaxy S10e takes most of the headline features from its flashier siblings and offers them in a package that's easier on the wallet.

Near-identical feature set to the S10 ; Nice compact size ; Feature-packed ; Great display

Faster fast charging would have been nice ; Fingerprint sensor not great for lefties ; No lossless zoom might irk some ; Underwhelming battery life

Like the iPhone XR, the Galaxy S10e takes most of the headline features from its flashier siblings and offers them in a package that’s easier on the wallet. This isn’t a cheap phone – and it’s not trying to be – but neither is it an investment in the...

Samsung Galaxy S10e review: Smaller, but not lesser

The Galaxy S10 and S10+ set a high bar for this year's premium Android phones and, with the S10e, Samsung is trying to make sure more people benefit from its work. That's new territory for the company, and it paid off. The Galaxy S10e delivers the...

Affordable by S10 standards ; Excellent performance ; Great trio of cameras ; Much-improved software ; Great for one-handed use

Underwhelming battery life ; Questionable fingerprint sensor placement ; What is the point of Bixby?

Galaxy S10E: The best value Galaxy S10 is worth your money

This value-buy powerhouse does a lot right and very little wrong.

A dream come true for value shoppers who love small phones. The Galaxy S10E shares the S10's core camera and Snapdragon 855 chipset, so photos and speed are excellent. Battery life and wireless power sharing are also spot-on. Its fingerprint reader and...

Lefties and people with small hands may find the fingerprint reader placement a tad inconvenient. The indented shape makes taking screenshots feel odd.

The Galaxy S10E is a terrific value for a compact, powerhouse phone, although it can't beat the OnePlus 6T's $550 price.

Samsung Galaxy S10e

The Samsung Galaxy S10e has the best overall price, performance, and size for a flagship smartphone today.

Amazing screen color and clarity. Industry-leading processor and modem. Wide-angle camera. Headphone jack. Just the right size for most hands.

Low-light camera performance not as good as the Google Pixel 3. Fingerprint sensor could be more accurate.

I am biased. I prefer phones that actually fit in my hand, and if anything costs over $1,000, it better have a really good reason to do so. The Samsung Galaxy S10e has all of the key aspects of the S10 series: an amazing screen, a fast processor, a...

Samsung Galaxy S10e review: The one to buy?

The Galaxy S10e is the powerful, stripped back version of the S10. It's missing some features, but all the important ones are still there.

All the power and performance of the bigger models ; No curved screen edges is a good thing

Only dual camera versus S10's triple system ; Design is a bit toy-ish in some colours

On the whole, the Samsung Galaxy S10e is a powerful, palm-friendly smartphone that's ready to compete head-on with the iPhone XS and the Pixel 3. And in many ways it comes out on top.

Samsung Galaxy S10e review

Samsung's 2019 specs at 2016 prices

Fast phone you can use one-handed ; Superb camera for the size and price ; Wireless PowerShare is useful

Dual-camera compromise ; No in-screen fingerprint scanner ; Noticeably thicker than the S10

The 'e' in Samsung Galaxy S10e stands for 'essential', which means it packs almost everything the S10 and S10 Plus have, at a lower price. You get a 5.8-inch screen, the same two primary cameras, and all-day battery life, but you’ll miss out on a third...

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is going cheap SIM-free

Samsung's discount flagship is now even cheaper

Everything else is the same though, meaning you still get the same superfast performance and stylish looks. If photography isn’t the be all and end all, I have no hesitation in recommending you grab this deal while you can.

Samsung Galaxy S10e hands-on review: Cheaper, but just as formidable

Samsung's Galaxy S10e might not be quite as impressive as the rest of the lineup, but its lower price offers a tempting proposition

Whether or not I end up spotting any compromises when I receive a handset for review, remains to be seen. However, as it stands, I’m just as impressed with what the Galaxy S10e has to offer, and I have high hopes for Samsung’s cheapest handset when it...

Samsung Galaxy S10e

The Galaxy S10e would have been our pick of all three S10 phones were it not for its remarkably inconsistent battery life. It makes what could have been a great phone merely a good one. Here's our full review
